Annual Meeting Compliance

In 2012, the voting AANS membership approved changing the Bylaws’ annual meeting attendance compliance to at least once every five years for member neurosurgeons and advanced practice practitioners in North America.  Before that time, it was once every three years and when the Harvey Cushing Society was founded it was once every other year.

How do you know when you last attended the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting?  You can find the last meeting you attended in MyAANS – look at the Census in the My Membership icon.

If you are at your five year attendance requirement and unable to attend the 2018 meeting in New Orleans, you will be provided with an opportunity to request an excuse.  If you do not submit a request for an excuse and do not attend, you will be Suspended from AANS membership.  Reinstatement would happen if you attend the 2019 meeting, otherwise membership will be terminated.
