AANS Press Room Guidelines

Contact:  Betsy van Die

The AANS is pleased to welcome media representatives to the 77th Annual Meeting in
San Diego.

Media Registration
To register for the AANS Annual Meeting, please visit the press room on site. Press credentials, proper identification, and a sample copy of your publication (optional) must be presented to AANS staff to receive a press pass, which will enable you to receive a registration packet at the meeting registration desk. Press badges are available to working journalists from recognized news organizations whose attendance at the meeting results in media coverage of the AANS, AANS members, or the field of neurosurgery, in print, Web or broadcast media. A limit of three editorial staff per outlet may register.

Exclusions
Free registration is not available to individuals writing on behalf of publications affiliated with universities, hospitals, device/pharmaceutical companies, PR firms, or any for-profit entities targeted to the device industry.

Commercial Press Registration
The commercial press category encompasses those writers and editors who represent for-profit publications that are circulated among the medical device industry and the business community. Their attendance at AANS Annual Meetings is to network and highlight the activities of device or pharmaceutical companies. Business, medical device, and manufacturing publications that do not contain editorial content related to the scientific program (research) presented at the meeting fall into the category of "commercial press" publications. In addition, to qualify for this registration category, you must be on the editorial staff of the publication you represent. Sales or marketing personnel do not qualify for this reduced-fee registration category. A copy of press credentials or letter of assignment from publication editor must accompany registration to qualify for this category.

Press Passes
For a press pass, contact Betsy van Die, AANS director of communications at (847) 378-0517, or stop by the Annual Meeting Press Room, San Diego Convention Center, Hall D, Upper Level, Room 23B, beginning Monday, May 4 at 8:30 a.m.

Entry into AANS Scientific Sessions

Camera and video crews are not allowed access to plenary and scientific sessions without advance notification.

Entry into AANS Exhibit Hall
Admittance into the Exhibit Hall is permitted to registered media representatives.
