Merwyn Bagan, MD, MPH, FAANS(L)
Merwyn Bagan, MD, MPH, FAANS(L), is current board member and past-chairman of the Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery (FEINS). He served as president of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) 1992-93. After retiring from active practice, Dr. Bagan obtained a MPH degree, concentrating in International Health. In 1995, he was invited to initiate the neurosurgical training of two general surgeons and establish a neurosurgical unit at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Among his many awards, the AANS honored Dr. Bagan with the 2000 Humanitarian Award in honor of his accomplishments and outstanding service to the development of neurosurgery and care of needy patients in Nepal.
