The Young Neurosurgeons Research Forum allows medical students, residents and fellows a platform to present scientific abstracts to both their peers and a panel of judges.

At the conclusion of the forum, abstracts will be evaluated by an expert panel of judges. Top-rated abstracts will be presented the Donald O. Quest Award in the following categories:

  1. Best basic science abstract from a resident or fellow
  2. Best basic science abstract from a medical student
  3. Best clinical abstract from a resident or fellow
  4. Best clinical abstract from a medical student

Fredric B. Meyer, MD, FAANS

Fredric B. Meyer, MD, FAANS, is a consultant and professor of neurologic surgery. He is enterprise chair of the Mayo Clinic Department of Neurologic Surgery and is recognized with the distinction of a named professorship, the Alfred Uihlein Family Professorship in Neurologic Surgery. He is currently the Juanita Kious Waugh Executive Dean for Education of the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and Dean of the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

Dr. Meyer has held many leadership positions in professional organizations, including president of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery (AAcNS) and board of directors of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). He has been director, secretary and chair of the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and is currently serving as executive director.
