Young Neurosurgeons Award Information
The Scientific Program Committee of the XIV World Congress would like to invite all young neurosurgeons to submit original, unpublished work related to basic science or clinical work in neurosurgery. The conditions of the awards are as follows:

Five awards are available.
|

• |
|
The applicant should be applying within 10 years of having obtained his/her neurosurgical qualification. Students, interns and residents do not qualify for this award.
|

• |
|
The award consists of an honorarium of $1,500.00 U.S. Dollars, a certificate and a complete waiver of registration fees and lodging expenses at the World Congress in Boston.
|
|
• |
|
The papers will be judged by an ad hoc committee nominated by the WFNS President, Dr. Jacques Brotchi.
|
|
• |
|
The applicant should submit via email a copy of the manuscript, not more than ten (10) double-spaced typewritten pages (exclusive of figures and tables) no later than February 28, 2009 to the Secretary of the WFNS, Dr. Richard Perrin, at richard.perrin@utoronto.ca.

The submission should be accompanied by a supporting letter from the Head of the candidate's Neurosurgical Department.
|
|
• |
|
The awards will be presented to the five awardees at the Opening Ceremony of the WFNS World Congress on Sunday evening, August 30, 2009, and the winners will have an opportunity to present their work during the Young Neurosurgeon’s symposium during the meeting. |

Video Session Submission Information
The WFNS Scientific Program Committee is accepting submissions for the Video Sessions taking place from 16:30 to 17:30, Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the XIV World Congress of Neurological Surgery of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
The video will need to be in digital format of good quality, and demonstrate a neurosurgical procedure on one patient. It should be edited and no more than eight (8) minutes in length. You will be expected to be present at the meeting to narrate your video. All subspecialties will be considered. If you already have a suitable video or anticipate having one by the time of the meeting, please don’t hesitate to submit a title. We encourage all our neurosurgical colleagues from around the world to participate in this submission process. There are 120 available spots and the Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to make the final selection.
Please send the title of your video along with a brief description to 2009WFNS@AANS.org by November
30, 2009. More information on when the actual videos need to be submitted will be available once the final
selections are made.
