Guest Program Evening Events and Tours

Guest Program
The guest registration fee includes a ticket to the Opening Reception on Sunday evening, as well as access to the Exhibit Hall, and admittance to the Guest Hospitality Suite, which includes daily continental breakfast. (Admittance to the Guest Hospitality Suite is by guest badge only.)

All tours are available to registered attendees. Tickets can be ordered online at the AANS Web site, using the enclosed forms, or onsite at the Tour Desk located in Java East of the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. Please note there is an additional administrative fee for faxed and mailed forms. Please note that onsite sales will be limited and accommodated on a spaceavailable basis; advance registration is strongly encouraged. In accordance with a policy established by the AANS Board of Directors, medical registrants may not register for tours and activities scheduled in conflict with the Scientific Program, Monday through Thursday.

Children under 18 years of age should register for the Annual Meeting, even though there is no registration fee, they will receive a badge. This badge will allow full participation in the guest program activities, excluding access to the Exhibit Hall. (Children under the age of 18 will not be admitted to the Exhibit Hall. Please make arrangements for your child's supervision prior to visiting the Exhibit Hall.) For guest program activities, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Any special needs requests must be made at least 30 days prior to the selected tour or event to guarantee accommodation. However, if a request is received within 30 days, we will make every effort to accommodate it.

Tours & Optional Evening Events
Many attractions normally require that tickets be purchased months in advance with no guarantee of availability. Only through AANS tours are you most likely able to tour these exciting destinations.

Tickets will be distributed in Java East of the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers only. All delegates must have their tour tickets for participation and must provide proof of registration with proper identification (driver's license or state ID).

The tours will depart from the Convention Entrance of the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. Tour participants staying at other hotels can either walk, take a taxi to the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers or take the shuttle from their hotel to McCormick Place and transfer to the Sheraton Chicago route. Please allow adequate time to get to the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, arriving 15 minutes prior to departure. All tours and events will operate regardless of weather.

Cancellations
Cancellation for any tour must be submitted in writing no later than April 4, 2008, to aanstours@intheloop-chicago.com or (312) 870-1188 (fax).

Cancellation requests received in writing on or before April 4, 2008, will receive a full refund, less a $10 processing fee. No requests for refunds will be accepted after April 4, 2008. The tour company also reserves the right to substitute appropriate sites if necessary. In the event that a tour must be cancelled, In the Loop-Chicago will notify all registrants as soon as possible and will offer another tour option or issue a refund. Refunds for cancelled tours will be credited within 4 to 6 weeks following the meeting

It is expressly agreed that AANS and In the Loop-Chicago shall not be liable for any damage caused or incurred in connection with these optional activities. Attendees agree to indemnify AANS and In the Loop- Chicago against liabilities arising from, or in connection with, the AANS Annual Meeting. Tours and optional evening events are available exclusively to AANS Annual Meeting attendees through In the Loop- Chicago. Please visit www.AANS.org to register for the tours. Chicago is a city of surprises, from the glimmering lakefront to its outdoor museum of architecture.

Sample the strength and beauty of this great city on a three (3) hour tour. An expert guide will point out the towering buildings of downtown and the upscale residences of the Gold Coast. Pause for a photo at the museum campus, home to the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and Field Museum. This stop is truly one of the most beautiful portraits of the lakefront. Cruise down Michigan Avenue, "the Magnificent Mile," home to countless renowned designers and shops. Glimpse the Merchandise Mart and other architectural marvels, a unique collection that rivals any city in the country. See Harpo Studios, where Oprah Winfrey tapes her show! Visit the site where the Great Chicago Fire started and hear how this sparked a great urban growth spurt. Marvel at the wealth of public art ranging from Picasso to Chagall. Pass by the brilliant Buckingham Fountain. Along the way you'll see some of the ethnic enclaves that make Chicago a "city of neighborhoods," such as Little Italy. Your guide will narrate the history of the financial canyon of LaSalle Street, the economic engine of the Midwest! On your ride back, you will pass Millennium Park as well as the Symphony Center and The Art Institute of Chicago. Upon your return home, you can truly say you saw Chicago.

Chicago Architectural Cruise & Michigan Avenue Rolling on the River

North Shore Gardens and Lunch

Spend a day surrounded by the glorious floral displays that make up Chicago's North Shore Gardens! Your day starts at the Chicago Botanic Garden where the most striking aspect is the gardens physical face. With 23 beautifully designed gardens, boasting over one million different plants, the Garden offers you the serenity you've been looking for. Your visit begins with a 45-minute narrated tram tour around the perimeter of the Garden. Learn about herb gardens, perennial beds, rock gardens and rhododendron plantings. Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio

You will journey to the nearby suburban neighborhood of Oak Park, where Frank Lloyd Wright's legend began. During a 45- minute tour through his Home and Studio, an expert docent will recount the story of Wright's work and life in Oak Park, the location where he and his family spent the first 20 years of his career, from 1889-1909. You will have the chance to learn more about Wright's famous "Prairie style" architecture and the meaning behind it. After leaving the artist's home and studio, your docent will take you on a relaxing stroll through the neighborhood's Historic District. The district boasts 25 other Wright buildings - the world's largest concentration of Wright-designed structures! Before continuing your tour, enjoy a three (3) course lunch at a favorite neighborhood Oak Park restaurant. After enjoying fine cuisine, visit Unity Temple, the first public space created by Wright in 1908. The U.S. Department of the Interior gave Unity Temple its highest historical and architectural honor in 1971, designating it a National Historic Landmark. Unity Temple is the last remaining public building of Wright's "golden period," the era when he founded The Prairie School of architecture and design.
