Coronado Walking Tour
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
$68 per person

Join us for a leisurely walk through quaint Coronado, once the playground of presidents and princesses. Our tour begins with an overview of the island’s history – 460 years of history to be exact. Beginning in 1542 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, a Spanish explorer first arrived in San Diego, all the way up until the finishing touches were put on the Hotel Del Coronado.

The Hotel Del holds the most stories, having been the filming site for the legendary film "Some Like It Hot" with Marilyn Monroe. Movie stars weren't the only residents of the hotel. British royalty also called it home. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor were guests, and the Duchess even has a building on the hotel grounds named after her – the Duchess of Windsor Cottage.

Further along our guide will point out the house where L. Frank Baum – author of the Oz books, most notably The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, spent winters. He wrote many of the books right here in Coronado!

An important part of Coronado's history – past and present – is aviation and the military. In 1911, Glenn Curtis opened an aviation camp in what is today Navy Air Station, North Island. In 1927, Col Charles Lindbergh took off on the first leg of hisjourney to St. Louis, New York and Paris from North Island. History is still a part of everyday life in Coronado with more than 85 historical sites designated in the city. In the spring of 2000, the Coronado Historical Association reopened its museum in newly restored historic space on Orange Avenue, the city’s main street. We will fill you with tales and tidbits of more than one hundred years of remarkable history.

San Diego Land and Sea Tour

After seeing our lovely city by land, you will be welcomed aboard a public harbor tour boat. You will cruise the calm waters of San Diego Bay to see the city and bustling harbor from a completely different perspective. Professional guides will narrate points of interest that may include the Coronado Bay Bridge, the Navy shipyards and aircraft carriers. Along the way, you might even see a seal or two cruising through the water. You haven't see San Diego until you have seen it from the water. It's an entirely different way to see the city
