OPENING RECEPTION
Be sure to make plans to attend the social event of the week, the Opening Reception, on Sunday evening, May 2 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the AANS Exhibit Hall at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

You will be led on a journey back to the American Revolution era, feasting on popular food items of the time while visiting with friends and colleagues. Who knows, you may even run into Ben Franklin or Betsy Ross.

Don’t miss the opportunity to hear some of our own. NJQ "Neurosurgical Jazz Quintet" featuring Donald O. Quest, MD, Fames E. Rose, MD, Theodore H. Schwartz, MD, R. Michael Scott, MD and Phillip R. Weinstein, MD will again entertain us during the party.

One ticket to the Opening Reception is included with each medical attendee and spouse/guest registration. Motor coaches will shuttle between the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown, Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia, Embassy Suites Philadelphia Center City, Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, and Ritz Carlton between 6:15 – 8:15 PM. All other hotels are within walking distance of the Convention Center.

Join leaders from the AANS and neurosurgical organizations from around the globe as the
AANS presents the International Lifetime Recognition Award to Jose G. Martin-Rodriguez, MD. This prestigious award honors Dr. Martin-Rodriguez for his invaluable contributions to neurosurgery internationally, especially in his home country of Spain. The AANS will also present the AANS International Travel Scholarship to Mohsen Marzban, MD for his abstract titled Intravenous Injection of Human Umbilical Cord Matrix Stem Cell (Wharton jelly stem cell) Provides Functional Recovery In a Rat Model of Traumatic Brain Injury. Other international award and fellowship recipients will be recognized, including the Best International Abstract award, and the recipients of the AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowships.

When registering for the AANS Annual Meeting, please tell us if you plan to attend this reception by indicating the number of attendees. There is no fee to attend; we welcome all annual meeting registered attendees - especially our colleagues from outside the United States. Also, please tell us if you are an officer in your local neurosurgical organization so that the AANS can acknowledge you at the reception.
