WELCOME!

The 72nd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) held in scenic Orlando, Florida, will be exceptional. Through the dedication of the Planning Committee, this meeting will offer ingenious educational and social programming.

The theme for the 2004 AANS Annual Meeting is: "Advancing Patient Care Through Technology and Creativity." To reflect creativity within this year's theme, we are thrilled to announce that award-winning documentarian Ken Burns, will be the 2004 Cushing Orator, on Tuesday, May 4.

This year, the AANS has truly extended its program to countless neurosurgical colleagues from around the globe. Neurosurgeons from Latin American countries will be honored guests of the AANS for the Latin American Symposium of Neurosurgery on Friday,April 30.

In addition, the scientific program features the latest technological innovations and scientific advances from all areas of neurosurgery. Notable additions and changes have been made to this year's program, including a fourth plenary session focusing on socioeconomic issues and accommodating additional oral abstracts, revamped breakfast seminars allowing you to bring your most challenging cases to discuss with experts, and a session devoted to peripheral nerve topics.

Undeniably, the most memorable activities of the AANS Annual Meeting involve socializing with friends and colleagues. This year’s social program embraces our host city by highlighting the best Orlando has to offer including the world famous Universal Orlando,Walt Disney World and Sea World. Indulge in one of Orlando's most remarkable attractions, by joining us at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure for our Opening Reception on Sunday, May 2.

We hope that you plan to join us for this extraordinary meeting. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando, May 1 – 6, 2004.
