Welcome

Dear Colleague,
The 73rd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) to be held in remarkable New Orleans, Louisiana, is sure to be extraordinary. The culmination of the hard work of the Planning Committee, the meeting will truly live up to its theme – "Education and Innovation in Neurosurgery" – and provide exceptional educational and social programming.

New Orleans is a favorite annual meeting destination – and it’s no wonder why. Unlike any other North American city, New Orleans inspires and intrigues. The birthplace of jazz, the blues and the po’boy sandwich, "N’awlins" overflows with history, interesting people, great food and experiences for all the senses. Home to some of the greatest restaurants in the world, New Orleans is called an oasis on the Mississippi. Everywhere you go you’ll find enthusiasm for food, dancing, music, parades and life itself.

The meeting’s scientific program features some of the specialty’s most renowned experts delivering presentations that you won’t want to miss. A new, special scientific session, Neurosurgery with the Masters – In My Experience, is sure to be outstanding. Again this year, members who keep their fingers on the pulse of the current socio-economic issues will discuss the latest developments and what you need to know. Unquestionably, one of the highlights of each Annual Meeting is the Opening Reception and this year will be no exception. Mingle with friends and colleagues while enjoying a taste of Mardi Gras at New Orleans’ incomparable Blain Kern’s Mardi Gras World. Other attractions and social activities in New Orleans abound. You won’t have far to go to find endless entertainment options.

We are thrilled to offer new registration options and benefits exclusively to AANS members this year. General Registration and Housing for the meeting has been available since November 1, 2004, allowing you to make your travel plans early. Practical Clinics, Breakfast Seminars and other ticketed events are now available to AANS Members. Members have exclusive access for two weeks and have the opportunity to be the first to get into the courses that fill up quickly. On January 31, 2005, all events will become available to everyone. This new program increases members’ chances of getting into courses that typically sell-out, and enables them to better schedule their time. So, if you’re not already an AANS member, visit our membership area online to learn how you can have access to these exclusive member benefits. We hope that you’ll join us in New Orleans April 16-21, 2005 for this memorable meeting.
