This course will examine the current use and pitfalls of big data analysis in current neurosurgical practice. An introduction to basic statistical principles and the origins of big data in medicine will provide the setting for the current environment. Specific topics related to big data use in neurosurgery quality registries, publically available national registries and the outlook for personalized neurosurgical care that are developed from research in genomics will be discussed in depth.
