Harvey Cushing called Sir Victor Horsley the father of modern neurosurgery. Horsley’s contributions put neurosurgery onto its path toward identification as a separate specialty. Uncommon at the time, Horsley was a scientifically-minded surgical pioneer. Horsley’s writings and contributions as well as what others wrote about him will be reviewed, discussed and assessed by the group to achieve an appreciation of his impact on neurosurgery.
