Young Clinician Investigator Award (YCI) - For Young Faculty

Applications for the 2009 NREF Grants will be available online in July 2008.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION for 2009 research opportunities DEADLINE is October 31, 2008

Established by the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF) of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons in 1985, the Young Clinician Investigator Award grants support to young faculty who are pursuing careers as clinician investigators. Applicants must be neurosurgeons who are full-time faculty in North American teaching institutions and in the early years of their careers.

The purpose of the award is to fund pilot studies that provide preliminary data used to strengthen applications for more permanent funding from other sources. The one-year award totals $40,000. Applications related to any field of neurosurgery are encouraged.

NREF encourages both patient-oriented clinical research and basic science research projects.

The NREF through the Corporate Associates Program partners with corporations to offer a number of co-sponsored grants. Companies supporting residents and junior facility research grants include Biomet, Microfixation, DePuy Spine, a Johnson & Johnson company, Kyphon Inc. and Porex Surgical.
