AANS Members Insured through the AANS Professional Liability Insurance Program Receive Dividend Credit

Members insured by The Doctors Company through the AANS Professional Liability Insurance Program will receive a 5% dividend credit in addition to the premium discount that AANS members with favorable claims histories receive. Dividend distributions began appearing as credits against current premiums effective with renewals that began on July 1, 2008.

The AANS has exclusively sponsored The Doctors Company as administrators of our national member program since 2000. The Doctors Company has authorized a total of $44 million in dividends for their policyholders in the past two years, evidence of their commitment to ensuring physicians share in the benefits of the company's financial strength.

The multiyear dividend is in addition to other industry-leading member benefits, including the Tribute® Plan, which honors physicians with a significant financial reward for providing outstanding patient care. The AANS Professional Liability Insurance Program also offers members:

• A 5% program discount for AANS members with favorable claims histories.
• Free tail coverage for The Doctors Company’s policyholders on full retirement at age 55 or older who have been insured for five years, or who suffer permanent and total disability or die.
• An additional claims-free credit of up to 17.5% per year.
• Patient safety programs tailored to the needs of AANS members.
• No claim is settled without the consent of the insured physician as long as the policyholder is an active insured of The Doctors Company.
