The theme for the 2014 American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Annual Scientific Meeting is Expanding Neurosurgery. The 82nd AANS Annual Scientific Meeting takes place April 5-9, 2014, at The Moscone Center in San Francisco, and will include the presentation of scientific data in general and subspecialty section sessions as oral and electronic poster presentations. Harvard Business School professor and widely regarded innovation expert Clayton Christensen has been selected as the Cushing Orator for the 2014 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting. In addition to being one of the world's leading authorities on business growth and development, Christensen is also a best-selling author. His most recent publication, How Will You Measure Your Life? addresses the topics of personal growth and career fulfillment in an engaging and inspirational manner.
Hunt-Wilson Lecture: Robert Gates

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense and C.I.A. Director Robert Gates will present the Hunt-Wilson Lecture during the 2014 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting. Gates, who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama, also has authored two memoirs about his service to eight U.S. presidents, including his recently released book Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War
, which offers a straightforward account of his experience serving Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
