Invitation and Visa Information
International Travel Information
International travelers to the United States from countries in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) must apply for entry online as part of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization. The program does not apply to travelers entering by land from Canada or Mexico. The authorization is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Note: Authorization does not guarantee entry into the U.S.; that decision rests with the immigration official at the port of entry. Click Here to apply for entry.
Letter of Invitation
Individuals who require an official letter of invitation in order to obtain a visa and authorization to attend the 2017 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting must first register for the meeting and request a visa letter of invitation. The letter will require you to provide your full name, address and email to process the electronic official letter of invitation. The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the 2017 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting organizers in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the meeting are the sole responsibility of the attendee. Please note that the AANS cannot guarantee that you or your colleagues will receive a visa. The decision to grant visas is at the sole discretion of the U.S. Department of State. The AANS cannot change the decision of the local U.S. embassy or consulate, should your application be denied.
Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requires all citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda to have a passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer's identity and nationality to enter or depart the United States from within the Western Hemisphere.
