Joint Sponsorship Information
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s (ACCME) definition of joint sponsorship is sponsorship of a CME activity by two institutions or organizations when only one of the institutions or organizations is accredited. The accredited provider must take responsibility for a CME activity when it is presented in cooperation with a non-accredited institution, or organization and must use the appropriate accreditation statement. A commercial interest cannot take the role of non-accredited entity in a joint sponsorship relationship.
AANS is accredited by the ACCME to offer CME activities and is pleased to consider jointly sponsoring your continuing medical education (CME) activity. Requests for joint sponsorship must be submitted to the AANS office in writing and requires completion of the joint sponsorship application at least six months in advance of the activity date.
In order for AANS to jointly sponsor your activity, we must work in partnership with you to ensure that the ACCME Essential Areas and policies and the Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education have been met. We are only able to consider requests for joint sponsorship which meet our specific requirements which are outlined in the Joint Sponsorship Guidelines and that complete the entire application process. AANS accreditation may be withdrawn at any point in time if the requirements are not met.
Please contact AANS via email at jointsponsorship@aans.org with questions regarding joint sponsorship.
