AANS International Lifetime Recognition Award

This award recognizes the recipient's lifetime of contributions to neurosurgery in his or her native country, and to neurosurgery globally.

Best International Abstract Award 2015 Recipient
The AANS Best International Abstract awards $500 to the author presenting the highest scored abstract submitted by an international author. In 2015, the AANS is honoring:

Jeffrey V. Rosenfeld, MD, MS, from Melbourne, Australia
The Development of a Wireless Multi-electrode Cortical Prosthesis for Restoration of Vision in Blind Individuals.

International Travel Scholarship 2015 Recipient
The scholarship provides $1,500 to support the attendance of a neurosurgeon from a developing country to the AANS Annual Meeting. The 2015 recipient selected is:

Draining vein shielding in Intracranial AVM’s during Gamma-Knife: A new way of preventing post Gamma-Knife Edema and Hemorrhage

The William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship The William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship provides support to a post neurosurgical resident for foreign travel for scientific enrichment, prior to beginning an academic career in neurological surgery. The Fellowship was designed to give freedom in scientific development without the restrictive limitations usually imposed by many research grants and fellowships. Candidacy for the fellowship is open to all senior neurosurgical residents, in approved neurosurgery residency programs.
