The Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation
The Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF) of the AANS provides research grant funding to residents and young clinicians/junior faculty in the field of neurosurgery. Since 1981, the NREF has awarded over $6 million in funding more than 157 research grants. The NREF offers Research Fellowships for residents seeking research training and Young Clinician Investigator Awards for young faculty members initiating pilot studies for the acquisition of preliminary data to be used in applications for more permanent funding. Several of these awards are co-sponsored and offer research opportunities in specialty categories such as cerebrovascular, pediatric, tumor and spine.

- Mail your gift – simply make your personal or business check or money order payable to the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF), and mail it to the address indicated on the online donation form.
- Matching Gifts – if your employer has a matching gift program, please obtain the proper forms from your personnel office.
