Northeast Quadrant

Orlando, Fl
April 30, 2004

The Northeast Quadrant met for two sessions, one on Friday night and the other on Saturday morning. Both sessions were extremely well attended. All three resident representatives that were invited attended the general meeting as well as both quadrant meetings. The residents were Charles Weaver from Brown University, Erica Bisson from the University of Vermont and Abinash Mohan from New York Medical College in Valhalla , NY.

A vigorous discussion of the resolutions was undertaken on Friday evening as well as a review of the reference committee recommendations on Saturday morning.

Ross Jenkins was selected to be our representative to the Reference Committee for the following year.

A general discussion ensued about the state of neurosurgery in the Northeast Quadrant. Manpower issues as well as the malpractice crisis were discussed. In particular, Pennsylvania has been especially hard hit.

There was a general consensus that the quadrant meeting had been very successful although we look for increasing diversity of state representation within the quadrant in the meetings ahead.

The meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted:

Stephen Onesti, MD
Chairman, Northeast Quadrant
