Gioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is typically treated with cryoreduction followed by radiation therapy or radiosurgery. It is common for GBM and other tumors to contain regions of hypoxia, decreasing the efficacy of radiation therapy. Trans-sodium crocetinate (TSC) has been shown to increase the diffusion of oxygen to plasma and brain parenchyma in animal models. By investigating the potential for TSC to act as a radiosensitizer in an animal model, this project aims to determine the utility of TSC as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of GBM.
