The AANS developed a line of patient education brochures to provide patients with information they can take home to read and share with family or friends. The information is authored by AANS member board-certified neurosurgeons and is written in easy-to-understand language geared for the general public.

The brochures cover diverse topics including neurosurgery, neck pain, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, diagnostic testing and spinal fusion.

Each brochure in the series outlines the common disorders associated with the condition, addresses conservative and surgical treatment options, describes postsurgical recovery and discusses the neurosurgeon’s role in treatment. An educational glossary of terms associated with each condition is also included in each brochure.
