Beginning with the earliest attempt to manage hydrocephalus by draining CSF in the latter part of the 19th century, theories surrounding CSF dynamics, the management of ICP, and technologies for measuring ICP have evolved in parallel. This seminar will discuss the history of managing ICP.
- Identify relevant trends in the historical understanding of CSF dynamics.
- Discuss the evolution of acute approaches to the management of ICP.
- Organize and evaluate the technologies used for ICP monitoring in historical terms.
