Performance metrics, such as the RVU, often underestimate the true value that an advanced practice provider (APP) may bring to a practice. APPs who work in a team model often have difficulty dissecting their contributions. Billable revenue may be hidden as physician productivity in a shared visit or incident and financial performance indicators are just one piece of the puzzle. Efficient and safe management of care that has a positive impact on patient experience is equally important. This course helps participants understand how to measure the value APPs bring to a neurosurgery practice. A case perspective is used to review legal issues in professional practice and identify ways to mitigate risk.

Learning Objectives: After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:
  • Recognize the difference between productivity measures and value in advanced practice.
  • Identify two measurable ways that APPs improve delivery of care.
  • Describe ways to mitigate legal risk in a neurosurgery practice.
