Welcome to the 2018 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting Press/Media information page. More than 3,200 neurosurgeons and other neuroscience professionals are expected to attend the AANS 86th Annual Scientific Meeting to be held in New Orleans, April 28-May 2, 2018. In addition to press guidelines, this page will offer the latest news, press releases and other related information around all of AANS' activities taking place during organized neurosurgery's premier North American meeting. To reach a member of the Department of Marketing and Communications before and after the 2018 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, please call the AANS Executive Office at 847.378.0500 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST.
All media personnel attending the 2018 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting must contact the AANS Director of Marketing and Communications prior to arrival at the event. All media personnel are required to register in advance. While media may be able to register with a staff member on-site, there are no guarantees. Please arrange registration before arriving at the meeting.
To qualify for registration, you must be on the editorial staff of the publication you represent, or, if you are a freelancer, have documentation from the publication for which you are on assignment. Media personnel will be required to provide a letter of assignment on company letterhead from the editor of a recognized news organization certifying that they are covering the 2018 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting for the organization. Press badges will be available only to those journalists who can show evidence that their attendance will result in coverage of the 2018 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting. Sales and marketing personnel do not qualify for this registration category.
Once on site, all media personnel already registered with the department will be able to take their letter of assignment and signed AANS press registration letter to the AANS registration area. A list of recognized media will be there to speed registration. ANY individual from the press attempting to register onsite may not be able to register and will be required to first check in with AANS marketing staff to have credentials and information verified. To qualify for press registration, you must be on the editorial staff of the publication you represent.
Please note: If you arrive onsite to register and do not have a letter of assignment or documentation of the organization you are working for, you will not be allowed entry into the meeting.

Working press personnel are considered to be editorial staff of medical/health-care publications, newspapers/magazines, or medical/health-care broadcast and Web-based media focused on the scientific presentations and related events taking place during the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting. Only individuals who meet these criteria will be considered working press.
Commercial press personnel are considered to be editorial staff that represent for-proﬁt publications circulated among the medical device industry and the business community, and for whom the primary focus of coverage is not related to the scientiﬁc program (research) presented at the meeting. Attendance at the 2018 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting is to network and highlight the activities of device or pharmaceutical companies. Those individuals will be required to register for the event as a member of the commercial press. For more information on this, please visit the registration area.
No outside materials for distribution and no sharing of lists will be allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule.
The AANS Department of Marketing and Communications staff can assist journalists by providing background information on neurosurgical health issues and assisting in setting up interviews with meeting speakers or AANS officers and spokespersons.
