Press Guidelines for the 2020 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting
American Association of Neurological Surgeons' Press Guidelines
The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is pleased to welcome media representatives to the 2020 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting in Boston.
For access to the meeting, it is necessary to preregister. Those seeking press credentials for the meeting are not able to register on site.
Press badges are available to working journalists from recognized news organizations, whose attendance at the meeting results in media coverage of the AANS, AANS members or the field of neurosurgery, in print, Web or broadcast media. On arriving at the meeting, preregistered reporters take their approved forms to the AANS Registration Desk to receive their badges.
A limit of three editorial staff per outlet may register.
Free registration is not available to individuals writing on behalf of publications affiliated with universities, hospitals, device/pharmaceutical companies, PR firms or any for-profit entities targeted to the device industry.
Commercial Press Registration
The commercial press category encompasses those writers and editors who represent for-profit publications that are circulated among the medical device industry and the business community. Their attendance at the 2020 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting is to network and highlight the activities of device or pharmaceutical companies. Business, medical device and manufacturing publications that do not contain editorial content related to the scientific program (research) presented at the meeting fall into the category of "commercial press" publications.
To qualify for this registration category, you must be on the editorial staff of the publication you represent. Sales or marketing personnel do not qualify for this reduced-fee registration category. A copy of press credentials or letter of assignment from the publication editor as well as a preapproved Press Registration Form need to be presented at registration to qualify for this category.
All press passes must be preapproved prior to the meeting.
Entry into AANS Scientific Sessions
Entry into any session cannot be obtained prior to registering with the AANS and obtaining an official badge. Reporters will not be allowed access to any Convention Center events prior to Sunday, April 26, 2020. Camera and video crews are not allowed access to plenary and scientific sessions without advance notification.
Entry into AANS Exhibit Hall
Admittance into the Exhibit Hall is permitted only to registered media representatives.
The 2020 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting press releases will provide scientific press releases and AANS officer and award winner releases. These releases also will be posted within the Media area of the 2020 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting page and distributed via Newswise. Following the conclusion of this year's event, all releases can be found on the AANS website in the Media section.
If you would like to arrange interviews with one of the neurosurgeons speaking prior to the meeting or offsite, please call the AANS Marketing and Communications Department to coordinate arrangements. The AANS also can provide you with additional background materials on a wide variety of neurosurgery-related topics.
