What is the dress code for the meeting?

The 2021 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting dress code is resort-casual.

How does the AANS plan on managing social events and attendee safety?

The safety of attendees is a top priority. Visit the Health & Safety page for the latest information on the current policies of the AANS and its partners in Orlando. Review the Duty of Care document for policy details.

Is there a chance the meeting dates and/or location will change again?

The priorities held in the careful planning of the 2021 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting include providing an in-person venue for the exchange of neurosurgical information and keeping members healthy.

The AANS believes it has a venue and a time frame that provides the best opportunity for success and are moving forward to deliver a fantastic, interactive and family-friendly meeting.

Does the AANS plan to hold future annual scientific meetings in the fall?

The AANS plans meetings years in advance and has contracts in place for Spring meetings, resuming April-May 2022 in Philadelphia.

Why is the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting being rescheduled?

Recent decisions to keep the Canadian border closed and strict new entry requirements from Canada to the U.S. added complexity to an already challenging set of logistics.

In an effort to safely accommodate the interactive educational opportunities offered during the meeting and the number of attendees expected, the Scientific Program Subcommittee and the Annual Scientific Meeting Committee sought an alternative venue.

The city of Orlando enables the meeting that members want and eases travel challenges. As the theme park capital of the world, attendees will have the opportunity to learn, interact with colleagues and have some fun.
