The COVID-19 pandemic continues to menace the world threatening our health and wellbeing and disrupting our lives. We all hope that efforts to curb the spread and vaccinate the population will bring this scourge to an end. The Annual Meeting Committee and AANS leadership have been closely tracking the situation as it relates to the 2021 Annual Meeting. We have heard your overwhelming interest in gathering together – in person – as a specialty. The best way to meet this need is to adjust our plans and keep open communication with you. Consequently, I am pleased to announce the following change:
The 89th AANS Annual Scientific Meeting will take place in Orlando, Aug. 21-25, 2021.
The change in location and date of the meeting was not undertaken lightly and will help assure our ability to safely hold an in-person meeting that will provide scientific, educational and social interaction.
Location and dates are not the only change you’ll experience during this meeting. The AANS has been working the past year to create a transformative meeting experience with a focus on new, interactive opportunities. This will be a family-friendly meeting and we’ll have discounts for many of the attractions that make Orlando a top family vacation destination.
I would like to thank the committees and volunteers who have been planning significant changes to the meeting structure and learning formats to give attendees a safe and more meaningful experience. We are deeply proud of this work and cannot wait to share more with you over the coming weeks.
Save the date – August 21-25 – and watch your inbox, AANS social media and this website for more. If you want to be among the first to receive updates about this meeting, click here.
I look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
John A. Wilson, MD, FAANS
