AANS Advanced Practice Provider Spine Techniques Clinic

The AANS is proud to announce the inaugural Advanced Practice Provider Spine Techniques Clinic. This one-and-a-half-day clinical course provides neurosurgical nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) the opportunity to learn common spine techniques required of the experienced advanced practice provider (APP). Clinical lectures and a full day cadaver lab deliver hands-on application and teaching. Registration is limited to 25 spots to provide opportunity for surgical practice and individualized feedback from faculty.

This course is designed for NPs and PAs with a minimum of 3-5 years of neurosurgery experience. They are already specialized within neurosurgery and may be practicing in a subspecialized spine practice. This course is intended as an advanced review of spine anatomy and surgical intervention. Attendees are expected to be well versed in spine anatomy and already have exposure to various aspects of spine surgery.

  • Interpret imagine for complex spine pathologies.
  • Safely position patients for neurosurgical spine procedures.
  • Identify the role of the APP in the operating room.
  • Perform a variety of surgical spine interventions.
