Precision That Changes Lives

What is Neurosurgery Awareness Month?

For over a decade, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) has proudly led the observance of Neurosurgery Awareness Month. Held each August, this AANS-led initiative highlights the critical role of neurosurgery in advancing all aspects of neurosurgical care. As the premier neurosurgical society, AANS uses this platform to educate the public, advocate for the specialty and celebrate the innovation, research and training that are transforming the field and improving patient lives.

The theme, Precision That Changes Lives, embodies AANS’s mission by showcasing the precision and expertise of neurosurgeons, elevating the field of neurological surgery and advancing public understanding of neurological conditions and treatment options.

Throughout #NeurosurgeryAwarenessMonth, we celebrate the entire neurosurgical community: the surgeons, residents, medical students, clinical teams, researchers, hospital staff and most importantly, the patients we serve. This month is a reminder that every role matters, every story counts and every action contributes to better outcomes and stronger futures. United by purpose, we honor the people and partnerships that make neurosurgical care possible.
