Neurosurgeons Commend Senate for Passing Historic Medicare Legislation
Congress Finally Sends Medicare’s Flawed Physician Payment System to the Trash Heap

Washington, DC – The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and Congress of
Neurological Surgeons (CNS) applaud the U.S. Senate for passing the “SGR Repeal and Medicare
Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2015.” The bill repeals Medicare’s flawed sustainable growth
rate (SGR) physician payment formula.

“Neurosurgeons appreciate the tireless efforts by Congress to once-and-for-all pass legislation that fixes
the broken Medicare physician payment system,” said Dr. John A. Wilson, a neurosurgeon from WinstonSalem, NC and chairman of the AANS/CNS Washington Committee. “This historic action by Congress
goes a long way to ensuring that our nation’s seniors will continue to have timely access to quality
medical care.”
