AANS Policy Prohibiting Involvement of Employees of ACCME-defined Ineligible Companies in Joint Providership Program
In accordance with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) criteria and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) monitors all directly and jointly provided educational activities to ensure the independence of its CME activities from ACCME-defined ineligible companies.
AACCME defines ineligible companies, formerly known as commercial interests, as those whose primary business is producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients.
As a method to ensure compliance, AANS prohibits employees of ACCME-defined Ineligible Companies from any role in the AANS Joint Providership Program.
