Announcing the NREF Cushing Bowl - Who Will Carry the Torch?
The Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF) Board of Directors are pleased to announce the first annual Cushing Bowl – a competition amongst residency programs to increase engagement, fundraising and further NREF’s mission – to launch at the 2022 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, April 29-May 2, 2022 in Philadelphia, PA.
We are inviting neurosurgical programs from around the country to enter this unique contest. There is no entry fee to participate in the contest and the final rounds will take place at the 2022 AANS Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. The competition will include opportunities to win points in three (3) categories: trivia contests, social media engagement, and fundraising. (Scoring will be weighted based on the size of your program.)
The winning program will receive the inaugural Cushing Bowl Trophy and a visiting lectureship from a member of AANS/NREF leadershipas well as bragging rights for the next year.
The first step: Nominate a neurosurgical resident from your program to be an NREF Team Captain who shall rally the troops, lead your team to victory and immortality etched on the Cushing Bowl Trophy. Team Captains will be responsible for recruiting players from your institution, communicating with team members, and carrying the torch for your program. Each Team Captain will receive a special gift from the NREF and an invitation to the exclusive NREF Donor Reception at the AANS meeting.
Please name one resident and one alternate by Friday, January 15, 2022. Nominations may be sent to info@nref.org.
Should you have any questions, please contact Joanne Bonaminio at jbonaminio@nref.org.
This is an opportunity to build community and encourage friendly competition, while raising funds to further NREF’s mission of advancing neurosurgical research and education. Become the first team to drink in exaltation from the Cushing Bowl trophy! Your support and that of your residency program for this contest is crucial and much appreciated.
