Ask Your Representative to Sign the Bera-Bucshon Medicare Payment Letter

Neurosurgeons face a 9% Medicare payment cut on Jan. 1, 2022, including the expiration of the 3.75% payment adjustment for Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) payments incorporated in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. The AANS and the CNS are working with key members of Congress to identify sustainable solutions to address the ongoing systemic problems with the Medicare PFS. In the interim, however, short-term stability in the payment system is needed — particularly with the resurgence of COVID-19 across the country — to allow more time for these ongoing efforts to continue.

To help raise awareness about the need to prevent these cuts, Reps. Ami Bera, MD, (D-Calif.) and Larry Bucshon, MD, (R-Ind.) are circulating a Congressional sign-on letter to House leaders asking them to “act before the end of the year to avert the imminent cuts, including extending the 3.75% payment adjustment, and provide continued stability for physicians and other health care professionals.” Please contact Congress and ask your Representative to sign the Bera-Bucshon Medicare payment letter.

Click here to go to neurosurgery’s Advocacy Action Center to send an email to your Representative asking them to sign the letter. A sample message, which can be personalized, is provided.
