Re: Reauthorization of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA)
Dear Leader Thune, Speaker Johnson, Leader Schumer, and Leader Jeffries:
We, the undersigned members of the Trauma Coalition, again write to urge Congress to swiftly reauthorize the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA), most of which lapsed in September 2023. Certain provisions that had been temporarily extended are set to expire on January 30, 2026.
This vital legislation ensures the nation is adequately prepared to respond to man-made, natural, and public health emergencies / disasters. In addition, PAHPA ensures the nation’s readiness against novel emerging threats, strengthens our national security, and supports frontline providers in saving lives and stabilizing communities.
