2020 AANS Managing Coding & Reimbursement Challenges in Neurosurgery

The goal of the 2020 AANS Managing Coding & Reimbursement Challenges in Neurosurgery course is to train clinical, professional and administrative staff to recognize the implications of quality reporting and deliver the most up-to-date ICD-10 and CPT coding specific to neurosurgical practice. Through hands-on training and experience, attendees learn to accurately apply and assign CPT codes for common neurosurgical procedures. Attendees are exposed to high quality, reliable and effective practice management content important for staying compliant with ever-changing regulations.

The AANS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.

Physicians Only Breakout: This session allows for discussion of new codes, practice management concerns and challenges faced by practicing neurosurgeons. The session reviews CMS survey methodology and provides the opportunity for discussion of the code development and valuation process. There is ample time for questions and for attendee-led discussion.

Coders and Office Staff Breakout: This session focuses on review of neuroanatomy and terminology relative to coding, using a didactic presentation, models and ample time for questions. Attendees are expected to have a working knowledge of neuroanatomy and terminology. Faculty recommends that attendees have completed Introduction to Neurosurgical Coding with Anatomy & Terminology webinar or have a minimum of two years of experience in neurosurgical coding.
