2022 AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowship

The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is now accepting online applications for the 2022 AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowship through July 15, 2021.

The AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowship is an initiative to assist international colleagues with an educational experience at a North American neurosurgical training program. The length of the fellowship is typically three months, and recipients receive a monthly stipend of $2,000 for up to three months ($6,000 maximum), plus round-trip coach airfare to the fellowship location.

Applicants must be neurosurgeons or neurosurgeons-in-training in a country designated by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle income, see the list here. Applicants should be on staff at a local hospital (and preferably medical school), involved in neurosurgical patient care and neurosurgical education.

The recipient must begin the visit by April 30, 2022. If recipients can schedule their visits to coincide with the 2022 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, the AANS will pay for the fellow's registration, housing and transportation to attend. The 2022 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting will be held in Philadelphia, April 29-May 2, 2022.

Additional details on the eligibility of applicants and the application process are posted on the AANS website.
