AANS Annual Scientific Meeting Policies

Only persons registered for this meeting are admitted to the exhibit hall and educational sessions. Badges must be worn at all times to gain admittance to all official AANS functions. Counterfeiting, copy or sharing badges or using a Guest Badge when not eligible to do so is expressly prohibited and may result in removal from the meeting.

In Person Medical Attendee Cancellation Rules

Cancellation requests must be made in writing to AANS@xpressreg.net.

All refunds will be processed and mailed following the 2023 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting. Refunds for meeting registrations and all ticketed events will be made in accordance with the following schedule:

  • Cancellations received on or before March 21, 2023, will receive a full refund less a $50 service fee.
  • Cancellations received between March 22, 2023, and April 5, 2023, will receive a full refund less a $100 service fee.
  • No refunds will be granted if received on or after April 6, 2023.

OnDemand Cancellation Rules

  • Cancellations received on or before April 5, 2023, will receive a full refund less a $50 service fee.
  • No refunds will be granted if received on or after April 6, 2023.

AANS may elect to cancel the Annual Meeting due to circumstances beyond our control, such as disaster, severe weather, pandemic, civil commotion or governmental laws or regulations. In the event of such cancellation, all Annual Meeting registrants will be notified by email at the address provided in the AANS database; and registration fees will be refunded in full. Other costs incurred by the registrant, such as airline or hotel penalties, are the responsibility of the registrant.

Any public space where other people are present holds an inherent risk of exposure to Covid-19 and other communicable diseases. By attending this event, I agree to voluntarily assume all risk related to exposure and agree to not hold the AANS or any of its affiliates including its directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, and volunteers liable for any illness I might contract during or after the event. I will take necessary precautions while at the event including, but not limited to, engaging in appropriate social distancing, wearing a mask in public areas when not consuming food or beverage, minimizing face touching, frequently washing hands and avoiding risky environments such as overcrowded bars or restaurants. I agree to not attend any AANS event if I feel ill or had recent exposure to a COVID-19 case.

Exhibitors will have devices to manually scan badges to receive your contact information at your discretion.

The registration fee will be based on your membership status as of February 17, 2023. Please note: if you are currently not a member of the AANS, it takes approximately eight weeks to become a member, depending on the membership category for which you are applying. For more information on joining the AANS, visit Join the AANS. Having a MyAANS account does not mean you have started the membership application process.

During the registration process you will be required to upload a credential to verify that you are being registered under the correct category. The credential that each registration type is required to upload in the registration portal is the following:

Non-member Non-Physician * Non-marketing industry personnel, including members of the medical, regulatory affairs, education community or research and development scientists may qualify. A letter of verification from the registrant on company letterhead, providing corporate affiliation and role is required at the time of registration. Verification materials are subject to AANS approval prior to registration processing and confirmation.
* Personnel involved in analyzing financial information to forecast business, industry and economic conditions for use in making investment decisions in the neurosurgery discipline may qualify for this category. A letter of verification from the registrant on company letterhead, providing corporate affiliation and role is required at the time of registration. Verification materials are subject to AANS approval prior to registration processing and confirmation.
Non-member Neurosurgical Team * Physician assistants and nurse practitioners must provide a copy of his/her medical credentials.
* Office Staff and Surgical Technicians qualify for this category. A letter on practice letterhead noting the registrant's role within the practice is required.
Non-member Resident/Fellow All non-member residents and fellows currently enrolled in an ACGME-accredited training program and the Residency Review Committee for Neurosurgery are required to provide a letter of recommendation from the training program director.
Non-member Medical Student *All non-member medical students are required to provide a copy of their acceptance letter or the current school id.

AANS plans to take photographs at the 2023 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting and reproduce them in AANS educational, news or promotional material, whether in print, electronic or other media, including the AANS website. By participating in the 2023 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, you grant the AANS the right to use your images and biography for such purposes. All postings become the property of the AANS. Postings may be displayed, distributed or used by the AANS for any purpose.

I consent to the AANS retaining my personal contact information, including my name and email address, and I consent to the AANS using my personal contact information to send future emails and other communications to me.
